West Central Florida Concerns of Police Survivors

Concerns of Police Survivors (also known as C.O.P.S.) began in 1984 through the vision of a wife of a police officer in Camden, MO.  The purpose was to help families that are left to cope after a tragic loss of an officer killed in the line of duty.  C.O.P.S. provide resources to assist surviving families and co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Among other things, COPS addresses the emotional, financial, and legal needs of families. Provide training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and provides public outreach and awareness on behalf of

law enforcement and the families of fallen officers.

The West Central Florida Chapter Inc, works with agencies throughout 9 counties; Citrus, De Soto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota; to offer emotional support to families and co-workers of fallen officers. We hold annual Christmas events, provide gifts, and resources to our survivors, as well as helping survivors attend their annual retreats and attending local and national memorials in their officer's honor.
